Summary: Charmante en royaal uitgeruste vakantiewoning in authentieke stijl (18de eeuw) met leuk zwembad. Woning kan wel een opknapbeurt en vooral een grondige poetsbeurt gebruiken (zelfs naar Franse normen): hygiëne in badkamers is ok, maar stof en spinnenwebben overal anders. Niet voor mensen die vlug vies zijn van dingen. Locatie is rustig, maar in de buurt niet heel veel te doen.

Summary: We hebben een fantastische week gehad in het chateau in Saint-Aubin-sur-Loire. Het is erg mooi gelegen en geschikt voor grotere groepen die van een week rust willen genieten in en rondom een sfeervol chateau. Met mooi weer biedt het zwembad welkome verkoeling en vermaak, maar ook op de regenachtige dagen hebben we ons binnenshuis prima vermaakt in de grote, lichte serre en de ruime woonkamer. Het pand ademt historie en alles is aanwezig om een week lang voor een grote groep te koken. Er is verder in de omgeving niet bijzonder veel te beleven maar dat was voor ons geen enkel bezwaar gezien het aanwezige vermaak. Ondanks het feit dat het landhuis aan een weg langs de rand van een dorpje ligt hadden we een goed gevoel van privacy en hoefden we niet bang te zijn om eventueel geluidsoverlast te veroorzaken bij het zwembad. Het onderhoud laat wel wat te wensen over; de verf bladdert van het plafond, het huis ligt vol smoezelige tapijten en een groot deel van het meubilair is krakkemikkig. De bedden zijn niet per se comfortabel te noemen en het beddengoed is aan vervanging toe. Gezien de prijs die je betaalt voor een week zou een grondige opknapbeurt niet te veel gevraagd zijn; het schoonmaken van de schimmel in de badkamers zou al een goed begin zijn. Bij het uitchecken werden we erg vriendelijk te woord gestaan door een van de eigenaresses. Echter, deze was ons inziens te kritisch op de staat waarin wij het huis achter hadden gelaten, zeker gezien de suboptimale staat van hygiëne waarin wij zelf het chateau betraden de zaterdag ervoor. Dit leverde verder gelukkig geen problemen op met de afhandeling van de borg. Kortom: een aanrader voor grotere groepen die van een week rust willen genieten in een sfeervol, traditioneel Frans landhuis met zwembad en geen last hebben van smetvrees.

Summary: We had a wonderful time in this castle. It is very well equiped for large groups, with a lot of decent kitchen equipment that makes it very nice to cook with the entire group. (we we're 14). All bedrooms have an en-suite bath room. This is of course a castle, so do not expect a very modern interiour, but a very cosy decoration in each room, a good fit to the house.. Responsiveness from the owners is extremely good. We had an issue with the electricity, not related to the house, but to EDF. Stephanie responded immediatelly, contacted a technician that came by in 20 minutes and even the mayor of the village came by to check if everything was ok. We stayed during the end of year period, the castle was nice and warm. We would highly recommend this holidayhouse for larger groups, families, etc, both in winter as in summerseason.
